"I remember, as a wee laddie, traveling on the
trams from Princes Street to Newington as Vincent Cappola, son of the
Cappola's cafe people, in Arthur Street was a conductor on them.
The seats, I think, were wooden and I nearly slipped
of the seat when we turned in to the North Bridge from Princess Street.
He gave me his hat and I ran around the tram like a conductor.
It
was a great shame to see the trams finish in
Edinburgh in the Coronation year of 1950s." |
