The former St Leonard's Parish Church ©

"St Leonard's parish church was at the top of Lutton place where St Leonards meets Dalkeith Road.  It was shown on the Ordnance Survey map, 1893-94 as being  next to the Castle o' Clouts public house.

Some time before 1950, when my aunt was married at the church, St Leonards had joined with the Newington church, and become Newington and St Leonards in South Clerk Street.

The South Clerk Street building became the Queens Hall, which is still there and used for musical concerts.

NOTES

1.  Homebase do-it yourself store now stands where Castle o' Clouts public house once stood.

2.  It was in 1977 that the church sold its building in South Clerk Street to The Scottish Philharmonic Society, to become Queen's Hall.
