Niddrie Housing

Most of the homes in Niddrie are now no longer occupied and are due to be demolished to make way for 3,000 new homes to be built over the next fifteen years.

Work is due to begin on building the new homes before the end of 2006.

Auction

An auction is to take place at Richmond Church, Wauchope Avenue, Niddrie at 7pm on August 30, 2006.  Street signs taken down from the streets in the district are to be auctioned.  There two of each sign for:

-  Harewood Drive

-   Hay Road

-  Niddrie Mains Drive

-  Niddrie Mains Road

-  Wauchope Avenue

-  Wauchope Crescent

-  Wauchope Place

-  Wauchope Road

-  Wauchope Terrace

"Niddrie Gathering"

Proceeds from the auction will be put towards the "Niddrie Gathering" to be held on September 9, 2006.  This event, which will include stalls, slideshows, an evening dance and an exhibition of "Niddrie - Past, Present and Future".

It will be  held on the open ground at Wauchope Road, where the new houses are to be  built.
