A documentary programme,
loosely based around photographs taken by F W L Thomas in 1860,is to be
broadcast on Grampian Television on
10 June 2004.
Captain F W L Thomas was a Member of the
Photographic Society of Scotland from 1856, the year the Society was
founded.
He worked for the Admiralty, charting
the waters around the Western Isles of Scotland. He sailed to St
Kilda, an island in the Atlantic Ocean 100 miles off the north-west coast
of Scotland, and was the first person to take photographs in St Kilda. |
