Holyrood Park, Edinburgh

Highland Games

'The Gathering' in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh is scheduled to be Scotland's largest ever Highland Games.  There will be 'heavy' athletes, highland dancing and bagpipes.

'The Gathering' is part of 'The Homecoming', a series of events to be held throughout Scotland in 2009 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Burns.

 

Parade and Historic Pageant

There was a Clan Parade up the Royal Mile from Holyrood Palace to Edinburgh Castle, and a Historic Pageant on the Castle Esplanade on the evening of Saturday, July 25.  Here are a few photos that I took yesterday, during the Clan Parade
