Question Jeannie Vietch's Sweetie Shop On seeing the photograph above, George Smith wrote: "Might the blue Chinese shop be in the place of Jeannie Vietch's sweetie shop, where my aunt used to buy me a toffee apple or tablet, stood? The toffee apples were 'brammer' if they were plain toffee but I found the ones rolled in grated coconut tended to catch in my teeth." Answer Jeannie Vietch's Sweetie Shop The Chinese Supermarket, AIHUA, is at 36 West Crosscauseway. I believe that Mrs Vietch's shop would have been a little further down the street, on the left-hand side, just beyond the white shop (now Starbucks Coffee) in this photo.
