I was amused to see the names of these two shops in St Stephen Street.

I was amused to read the message from Terry Cox who wrote:

Dress Shop

"There used to be a dress shop at Portobello (sadly now gone - it was opposite the Police Station) called 'Klaze'

This intrigued me for a while, until I said it out loud, and realised it was just another spelling of 'claes' or to be more proper 'clothes'.

As my mother used to say 'Yon man's lost a lot o' weight. His claes are just fallin' off him.'"

Thank you to Katie who wrote to tell me that The Property Shop and The 'Proper Tea' Shop are no longer at 24 St Stephen Street.

Shop now Changed

"The shop at 24 St Stephen Street has changed.  We have taken it over.  Though our 'Greatbase' signage is not yet up above the door, but the shop has now been painted a beautiful blue. 

We have moved into this lovely office and enjoying life in Stockbridge."
