Road Signs

Queensferry Street

This is one of many new road signs that appeared on roads in the New Town of Edinburgh in 2005 as  the Central Edinburgh Traffic Management scheme was introduced.

A through route has been created from Queensferry Street into Shandwick Place at the West End of Princes Street, but motorists are not allowed to use this route.  Additional signs had to be installed to make the rules clear to motorists.

By installing this sign in the middle of the road, the council created the opportunity to add more signs  -  a 'keep left' sign at each side of the yellow concrete block.  One of the 'keep left' signs has fallen over in this photo.
