Lamp Posts This photo comes from the Edinburgh Street Lighting collection of photos held in the Edinburgh City Archive. The photo was taken presumably to show the lamp standards in Princes Street, following the removal of the old tram tracks after the trams stopped running in 1956. |

Road Works Only one vehicle can be seen on this stretch of road. Is the road being re-surfaced here following the lifting of the tram tracks. This photo was taken in the days before road works were lined with traffic cones. There appear to be just a few large tin barrels at intervals separating the lanes of traffic from the roadworks. |
