View from the top of Leith Street
This
view looks to the west along Princes Street from the top of Leith Street -
probably around the 1950s.
The Scott Monument in Princes Street
is in the top-centre of the picture.
At left-centre is the police man on
point duty in his striped box at the junction of North Bridge and
the East End of Princes Street - before the introduction of traffic
lights.
At the right-centre is Steele's
sculpture of the Duke of Wellington (the Iron Duke) cast in Bronze,
placed in front of Register House (out of picture on the right).
The pedestrians at the bottom-right
corner make attractive silhouettes. |
