This view looks down from Edinburgh Castle, over Princes Street Gardens and Princes Street, and out towards the Firth of Forth and Fife.

The tower of St Stephen's Church can be seen, peeping out above Edinburgh New Town (centre left)

The traffic in Princes Street seems very light in this photo.

2007

Here is another photo, looking down on Princes Street and beyond from Edinburgh Castle.  This one was taken in 2007.  Private cars were then no longer permitted to use the street, but most of Edinburgh's bus routes passed along the street.
