High School Yards

The District

High School Yards is a short street that runs parallel to the Cowgate, on higher ground immediately to the south of the Cowgate.  It was at the SE corner of the Old Town of Edinburgh, just within the city walls, to the west of the Pleasance.

The Housing

The houses in this street remind me of some of the balcony houses in nearby Dumbiedykes, now demolished:

Dumbiedykes Road - no traffic, just a pram. ©

The High School Yard houses are quite deep, extending quite a long way back from the street.
