The View

Granton does not get a lot of snowfall, but it was falling when this photo was taken.

This view looks to the north from Granton Road, directly down the snow-covered Eastern Breakwater of Granton Harbour.

The new apartments close to the Royal Forth Yacht Club clubhouse on Granton Middle Pier can be seen (rather distorted by the wide-angle lens) on the extreme left of the picture.

The houses in Lower Granton Road run across the centre of the photo.

The 'Nanny Park' sign in the foreground was erected in summer 2008 by Andrew Boath, chairman of the Granton History Group.

This is the name by which this slope on the north side of Granton Road used to be known, from the time that goats used to graze there.

Archie can just be seen, to the left of the the sign post in the enlargement of this photo.  He is wearing a light shirt and dark trousers and is raking the lawn in his back garden.
