Thank you to Phil Wilson, formerly of Edinburgh and now living in Aberdeen, Scotland, for allowing me to reproduce two photographs of the Forth Road Bridge under construction in June 1963.  The bridge opened to traffic about fifteen months later, in September 1964.

This photo looks out to the SW across the Firth of Forth.  The coast of West Lothian is in the background.

This is the other photograph of the bridge under construction, sent to me by Phil.  This was also taken in June 1963.  It looks to the NW across the forth to where the northern end of the bridge meets the coast of Fife at North Queensferry.
