Fireworks on Calton Hill

The 2004 New Year Celebrations in Edinburgh began with a torchlight procession from the Edinburgh High Street, down the Mound, along Princes Street and Regent Road then up to the top of Calton Hill.

The procession was led by a Viking ship that was put on the Calton Hill bonfire and set alight with the torches.

The evening ended with a firework display on Calton Hill.  The spectators here are standing with their backs to the fire, lit by the light of the fire.
