Since 1951, Alexander McLennan is
has run his small blacksmith business from his
workshop in Dunedin Street, Powderhall. Now, in 2004, it is a
one-man business with a steady trade from the nearby Edinburgh New
Town (built in the mid 18th century!).
Most of the other industries
in the Powderhall area in
the area including Duncan's chocolate factory, a Lamb's wood flour mill
supporting the linoleum industry in Kirkcaldy, Waterston's sealing
wax works and several engineering firms have now closed down or left the area.
