Pitlochry

Pitlochry is on the River Tay in Perthshire.  It is well known for its salmon leap and Festival Theatre.

To the south:  Perth - 27 miles.   Edinburgh - 69 miles.

To the north:   Aviemore - 56 miles.  Inverness - 87 miles.

The Highland Games are held in Pitlochry on the second Saturday in September.  I found the 2005 games to be very lively with lots of contestants, many of the events taking place throughout the afternoon, including Scottish Country Dancing, piping, athletics, children's sports, cycling,  tug-of-war and the heavy events.
