It shows, from the left:

-  my sister Joyce from No 7

-  David Pickering, No 2

-  me, Irene Brown, No 7

-  Lorna McNeil from East Preston Street.

I think that David Pickering became a Town Councillor for the Drylaw area."

I had originally captioned this photo:

 'Around Bonfire Night, 1956'

but I've now changed the caption to read:

'Around Bonfire Night, 1959

 after receiving the messages below from Dave Pickering and Irene Beaver

Dave is the young boy, 4th from the left, in this photo.
Irene is sitting beside him, 5th from the left. in the photo.

Dave wrote:

"I chanced across your web site and was amazed to find this picture of myself , and sitting on our garden wall, I think!

I would have to query the date of 1956, though.  I was born in July 1957 (honestly!)"

"Ah hah!  The Bonfire photo was one which my mother had not dated so I was guessing by the look of myself and the others that it was 1956.

It must have been around 1959 then, as David (Dave) looks about two.  That would make me eleven.  The following September, my sister and I were knocked down by a car at the junction of East Preston Street and South Clerk Street and I spent six months in hospital so there would have been no Bonfire photo in 1958."
