Thank you to Robert Laird for sending this photo to me, and telling me:

Longstone Football Club

Cup Winners

1928-29

"I received this photo from my late father's cousin who lives in Largs.

The lad holding the ball is my father's uncle Jimmy Laird.

- The lad seated on the far left is my dad's uncle David Cunningham, who my dad was named after.

The story in the family was this team won the Scottish Amateur Cup that season, but my research says Murrayfield were the champions.  However with the two locales so close together!

Which Cup?

This photo is certainly of the Longstone United team.  The writing on their football in this photo says:

Longstone

United

FC

1928-29

Longstone Utd certainly appear to have won a couple of trophies that season,  but which were they?

- This Scottish Amateur Cup wiki internet page confirms Robert Laird's findings that it was Murrayfield FC who won the Scottish Amateur Cup in 1928-29.  Murrayfield also won this cup in 1929-30 and 1930-31.)

-  However, this Scottish Juvenile Football internet page gives the answer for one of the trophies that Longstone United won in 1928-29..  It was the Scottish Secondary Juvenile Cup that they won.
