Senior Class  -  1946

"I recently got the photograph that I had long sought.  It shows the senior class of Dr Bells in 1946 just prior to dispersing to Secondary Schools.

The class was in attendance at Dr Bell's from August 1939, a month before the outbreak of the War until 1946, a year after the war ended.

I am on the extreme right in the front row.  The photograph is unusual in that it shows our teacher, Miss Gellatly, our headmaster, Mr Barrie and our school janitor, Mr Campbell.

The number of children was 39 and only the teacher, no helpers as is nowadays.   Teachers would have a fit now if they had such a figure to teach without help.

I pride myself in that I can put a name to all in the photo."
