Hunter Square
Throughout the Edinburgh Festival, Hunter Square, at the
top of Blair Street beside the Tron Kirk, has been one of the locations for
street entertainment, with different acts performing every 30 or 45
minutes. No charge was made, but the artists invited
contributions at the end of their shows. They attracted large
appreciative audiences.
Above is a hooded escapologist. A member of the
audience is helping him to remove his boots before the entertainer
crouches inside the red box on the pavement and has the ten swords (lower
left) thrust into the box "through him" and out of the other side.
