The View

This view looks down the tracks to the SE, from Broughton Road in the direction of Leith Walk.

Brown Brothers engineering works, recently closed.  The old factory has been demolished and the site is now occupied by a development named 'Broughton Court'  'Pilrig Heights' ***

The chimneys in the background are:

LEFT:     Shrubhill Transport Workshops (now closed, to be developed as housing)

AHEAD:  Post Office sorting depot, Brunswick Road (a fairly recent building)

RIGHT:  Works in McDonald Road (now closed, to be developed as housing)

The Railway

This line used to be part of the railway from Edinburgh Waverley station via Abbeyhill to Granton Harbour.  The line now extends only as far north as Powderhall refuse depot, close to the point where this photo was taken from.
