Lorry at Newhaven

When?

Thank you to Liz Grieve for sending me this photo of one of the Thomas Smith fish trucks that operated from Newhaven Market, complete with a small dog on the cab roof!

"Here is a rather damaged photo of my dad on the Thos Smith Truck no 3.  This may have been taken for the Silver Jubilee in 1936.  We can't be sure.

I'd guess it could have been taken either whilst they were decorating the truck or after the celebration. I think they are outside Victoria Primary school."

Lorry in Silver Jubilee Procession

1936

Liz noticed that the photo below is also of the same lorry.  In the photo below, it was taking Victoria Schoolchildren in a Silver Jubilee Procession along Princes Street in 1936.

"The tyres are not the same, but this photo is of the other side of the van, so we cannot be sure."
