Thank you to Elizabeth Robertson, East Lothian, Scotland who wrote:

"I've just finished reading  an article on  Duncan's  chocolate factory by Matt Rooney .   The Andrew that Matt  refers to may have been my grandfather, Andrew Beveridge Douglas.

Andrew lived in Liberton.  He had been a coachman,  as had his father and grandfather, at Craigend Park House in Liberton.  They were chauffeurs for the Christie family  who resided at Craigend Park House in Liberton.  In fact my  grandfather was born at the house.

I was told by  my mother that Andrew later worked for the Duncan family as chauffeur.  Here is a photo of Andrew standing  by a Duncan's chocolate Albion van of the time.  I have found photos of similar vans owned by Cadbury and Rowntrees."

Thank you to Matt Rooney, Ayrshire, Scotland who replied:

"I hope that it is the same Andrew, but the photograph has got an older type van on it.  Our van was a Bedford 3-Tonner with the sharp bonnet like you see in the old Bedford Coaches.  Hunters of Loanhead had a couple of those.

Perhaps something else will turn up regarding Duncans."
