Pencaitland

The Terminus

Pencaitland must have been about the most remote bus terminus used by Lothian Buses.  It is about 5 miles SE of Tranent in East Lothian, close to where the Tyne Water and Humbie Water merge to form the River Tyne that flows through Haddington.

This photo was taken on March 20, 2011, two weeks before Lothian Buses stopped operating this service.  For several years until April 2011, Lothian Buses had operated on this route in the evenings and on Sundays.

Bus Livery

The bus in this photo is painted in the new Mill Race livery adopted for Route 44 in recognition of the many mills that used to line the Water of Leith at the western end of the route between the centre of Edinburgh and Balerno.
