Pencaitland

The Terminus

Pencaitland must have been about the most remote bus terminus used by Lothian Buses.  It is about 5 miles SE of Tranent in East Lothian, close to where the Tyne Water and Humbie Water merge to form the River Tyne that flows through Haddington.

Here is a photo of the bus stop at the edge of the woods.  There was no bus due for several hours when I took this photo.  The Lothian Buses service only runs to this terminus in the evenings and on Sundays.  But when it does operate, the buses run half-hourly until about midnight!

The Buses

When the buses do appear at this terminus, they are branded for Route 44 - harlequin pattern with black roof:  "Service with a Sparkle"
