Granton terminus  -  Routes 19 and 32

Granton Square

Here is a busy scene on the eastern side of Granton Square.  One bus on Route 19 arrives, another departs, and a bus on Route 32, now operating only at morning and afternoon peak-times, waits at the terminus.

The building on the left is the toilet block in the middle of Granton Square.  Was it once a shelter for tram and bus passengers?

In the background are new apartments built as part of the Edinburgh Waterfront development on the corner of (Lochinvar Drive (formerly Granton Middle Pier) and Granton Square.

Buses

The buses in this photo are all Dennis Tridents with Plaxton President bodies.  This was the style of double-decker bus that Lothian Buses acquired in large  numbers up to 2004.

The following year, Lothian Buses started to place orders for Volvos with Wrightbus Eclipse Gemini bodies.  These had distinctive curved bases to their windscreens:
