Seed Catalogue

Thank you to the staff at the Library, Royal Scottish Botanic Garden for allowing me to reproduce the image above.   It is the cover of one of the seed catalogues in their collection.

This catalogue is dated 1871, and has an illustration on its cover of the Royal Winter Garden Glasshouses, Downie & Laird's Nursery at Haymarket, Edinburgh.  These houses were close to Donaldson's College.  (I've not yet checked the old Ordnance Survey maps to discover exactly where they were.)

Thank you to Simon Capaldi who wrote, telling me that the Royal Winter Garden Glasshouses at Haymarket were on land immediately to the east of Donaldson's Hospital Grounds.
