Robert Darney Devlin was born at 60 Hawthornvale,
Newhaven in 1889.
He was commissioned into the Royal
Army Service Corps in France (1914-18).
Following his father's death Robert managed the Devlin Head Office
and repair yard at Granton, also Oban and Aberdeen. Robert's older
brother, Thomas L Devlin (2) managed the Glasgow branch of the business.
Helived at Carisbrooke, 56 Netherby Road, Trinity.
Robert was a first class auctioneer and had a wide range of
friends in Yachting and High Stepping Pony Racing.
He died May 17, 1925, a steam trawler owner and fish
salesman, aged 37, leaving son Darney, then aged 4.
