            "I wonder if
any of your Leith local historians can tell me where the ATS unit
            was located in Hawkhill
Avenue, during the Second World War.

            A delightful
little autograph book dating back to 1917 that had belonged to a Mrs
Bonella Marr has recently come to light during a house clearance in
            Portobello.

Using the evidence on the flyleaf and of some
of the entries, it appears that Mrs Marr
was conscripted to, or joined, the ATS and was posted as Private
Marr to Hawkhill where her duties could well have involved service
            pay.

            I'd
welcome any information, either first or second hand, about
this unit to add a few more details to what we already know."
