Commemorative Stone

These trees were planted and the commemorative stone was laid when Standard Life created their new Administrative Offices at Tanfield, Canonmills.

The plaque on the commemorative stone reads

TANFIELD HALL

THE FIRST ASSEMBLY OF THE

FREE CHURCH OF SCOTLAND

WAS HELD HERE ON THE 18TH MAY 1845

AND IN THE SAME HALL THE

UNION OF THE SECESSION AND

RELIEF CHURCHES WAS

CONSUMMATED 15TH MAY 1845
