This photograph was taken from the Radical Road in Holyrood Park on 11 October 2004, two days after the Queen officially opened the new Scottish Parliament building. On the skyline are the Nelson Monument (in the form of an upturned telescope) and the uncompleted National Monument on Calton Hill. Beneath them, on Regent Road, is the former Royal High School building, currently the subject of a feasibility study with a view to converting it into a Scottish National Photographic Centre. |
