Looking towards the West End This photo was taken from The Scott Monument in August 2009. It looks along Princes street towards the West End. Churches and Hotel In the top-left corner are the red stone frontage of the Caledonian Hotel and the spires of several churches at the West End. Princes Street When this photo was taken, Princes Street was closed to traffic to allow the new tram lines to be laid. The pavement on the north side of the street remained open to pedestrians. It seems to have been busy when this photo was taken. Background Slightly to the right of the church steeples and almost in line with Princes Street is the former Donaldson's School for the Deaf in West Coates to the West of Haymarket. Behind, on the right is Corstorphine Hill. |
