Coats of Arms

Here are large cast iron Coats of Arms for Edinburgh and Leith that used to adorn some of the Granton Gas Works buildings, now demolished.

Two similar Coats of Arms can still be seen on the eastern side of the former Granton Gas Works Station.

"Your photos of Granton Gas Works Station show two cast iron coats of arms, one for Edinburgh the other for Leith. I think that there were many more around the demolished buildings as the garden furniture dealer near Bilston on the way to Penicuik had at least three pairs for sale.  He had already sold one pair a couple of years ago.

They were identical to the ones you photographed but without the colour."
