Deacon Brodie was born in 1741 and executed 1788.

The sign on the wall of Deacon Brodie's Tavern in Edinburgh's Royal Mile gives a brief biography of Brodie's life and death.

Deacon Brodie was one of the people caricatured by John Cay.
