Here is a photo taken by Francis Caird Inglis whose studio was at Rock House, Calton Hill.

This view looks to the south from the roof of Waverley Market towards the Old Town of Edinburgh.  The crown tower of St Giles' Church in the High Street can just be seen on the skyline, centre right.

The caption on the back of this photo reads:
