Three Gravestones

The Location

The three gravestones in the photograph above are at the western end of North Leith Cemetery in Cockburn Street.

In the background is the Water of Leith, the river that runs from the Pentland Hills to meet the Firth of Forth at Leith.  Great Junction Street can be seen crossing the Water of Leith close to its junction with Ferry Road.

The Gravestones

These three gravestones all have carvings of skulls and crossbones.  The two on the left, and possibly also the third, are from the early 18th century.
