How many ferries would be needed to cope with today's traffic?

"This photo is of myself at the top of the South Tower of the bridge.  It  was taken about 1962/63 when I was about 19 years old.

My father and I were invited to the top of the tower when the construction of the bridge was in full swing.  We ascended to the top in a small lift which was bolted to the outside of the tower.  There was no 'Health & Safety' then."

"This photo is of what at one time was Her Majesty's Naval Base Port Edgar.  As you may be aware, it closed many years ago and is now a marina.  This photo was also taken on 23 August 2014 from the top of the South Tower."

These photos were taken when I was lucky enough to ascend the tower again on 23 August 2014.

My family had bought me a ticket, one of only 2,014 on sale, the proceeds of which will assist in paying for the celebrations being staged for the 50th anniversary of the bridge in September 2014.
