View to the West This view looks to the west, up the Firth of Forth from the northern tower of the Forth Road Bridge. The light building with the tall chimney, in the distance, is Longannet Power Station, about 11 miles upstream on the northern shore of the Firth of Forth. The small rock in the foreground has a small lighthouse - 'The Beamer'. This rock is to become a foundation for the pillar of the new road bridge (or 'Forth Replacement Crossing' due to be built across the Firth of Forth between 2011 and 2016. |
