Torchlight Procession

Calton Hill

The start of Edinburgh's New Year Celebrations is celebrated by a Torchlight Procession from The Royal Mile via The Mound, Princes Street and Waterloo Place to the top of Calton Hill where there are floodlit monuments, fireworks and a bonfire.

Here, the torch bearers have reached the top of Calton Hill, beside the Nelson Monument, and are about to watch a firework display.
