Buttercup Poultry Farm |
Thank you to Bill Scott (author of the book 'The Buttercup', about Andrew Ewing and the history of Buttercup Poultry Farm} for sending me the image above, and for obtaining permission from Marion Martin for me to add this image to this page on the EdinPhoto web site. |
New Park There were a number of press reports published in the Edinburgh Evening News, probably about a year ago, when it was announced that a new park was to be created at Clermiston on the site of Buttercup Poultry Farm. Old Film The old photo above, 'Horses at the Buttercup', comes from a recently discovered movie film about Buttercup Poultry Farm. Marion Martin wrote: "The film that this photo was taken from belonged to my father Willie Christie. He was Andrew Ewing's great nephew. It was part of a collection that had been hidden in a loft for many years and was only discovered earlier this year (2013). I spent many months going through all the films, which included another three shot at the Buttercup Poultry Farm in the early-1930s. I have no idea who shot the films, but it wasn't my father. He got cine equipment from Uncle Andrew but that was not until the early-1950s."
