The Corner of Drummond Street and Pleasance

Police Box beneath the Flodden Wall

This is one of several former Police Boxes still to be found around the streets of Edinburgh.  It can be found beneath the Flodden Wall on the corner of Drummond Street and Pleasance in Edinburgh's Old Town.

The building in the distance to the right of the Police Box is in Holyrood Road.

Edinburgh Festival

The posters

This box is close to The Pleasance where many of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe performances are held each August.  The posters on the left and right of this picture are advertising Fringe shows and events.

Exhibition

One of the shows in August 2010 was held in this Police Box.  (That explains why the door is open.)   Malcolm Irving used the box to publicise his book 'Edinburgh Police Boxes' and his photographs of Police Boxes.  This exhibition was open from 12 noon to 1pm for about ten days from August 9, 2010.

Here, Malcolm Irving is standing at the Police Box, holding a copy of his book.  Some of his photos of Police Boxes can be seen hanging on the wall inside the Police Box.

Please click on the thumbnail image below to zoom-in and have a better look at the exhibition poster, Malcolm's photos and his book:
