Questions

Where and when?

Thank you to Joyce Gallois, Coventry, Warwickshire, England for sending me this studio portrait of her father.

The photo was taken at one of Jerome's studios.  Joyce wonders where and when the photo might have been taken.

Joyce writes:

"The date on this photo is 10th Nov 192?

My father was a canal person, so the photo could have been London or the Midlands"

Joyce Gallois, Coventry, Warwickshire, England:  April 24, 2007

'Branches Everywhere'

Unfortunately, so far as I know the individual Jerome studios did not mark their photos in any way to show which studio a photo came from.  Different studios appear to have used the same post card backs, all with the legend

'Branches everywhere'

Perhaps somebody will recognise the backdrop in this photo and will be able to suggest which studio the photo might have come from.

Please e-mail me  if you can help to identify the studio or date of this photo.

Thank you  - Peter Stubbs  April 26, 2007

Replies

Thank you to Alfred Vick who replied:

"Jerome was the premier photographic studio in Derby during WW2.  I know because my mother always took us there for family portraits"

Alfred Vick, Croydon, Greater London:  April 27, 2007
