Joppa

The Postcard

Thank you to Dorothy Addison (née Jenkins), now living in Tsawwassen, British Columbia, Canada, for allowing me to reproduce this postcard of Joppa.

This postcard was published by J B White as part of their 'Best of All Series'

J B White used seven different logos for their 'Best of All Series' postcards between 1926 and 1966.  The logo used on this card is the style that was used for cards published from 1955 to 1962.

The View

This view looks to the west across the long front gardens of some of the houses on the south side of Joppa Road.

The silhouette of Arthur's Seat in Holyrood Park can be seen (upper left).

Portobello chimneys can be seen (upper right).

This is the same section of Joppa Road, with the prominent church steeple,  as appears on the postcard below.
