Post Cards  -  WH Series  -    Berlin

Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat

The card above is one of many produced by WH of Berlin.  These cards all show buildings in Britain (and abroad?) with cut-out windows and moon, intended to be held up to the light for effect.

This card was posted from Edinburgh to Ayrshire on 12 November 1906.  The message was:

"Many thanks for the PC.  I think our eggs are quite as good as yours."

This is one of two views looking to the south west across Holyrood Palace towards Arthur's Seat, the 823 ft high extinct volcano in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh.

Please click below to see the second view  -  a rather wider angle view with more windows 'lit' and a crescent moon.
