Princes Street

This view looks to the east along Princes Street from close to its junction with Frederick Street.  The buildings in this view are:

LEFT:      Life Association of Scotland Head Office, with ornamental frontage.

CENTRE:  Nelson Monument on Calton Hill

North British Railway Hotel (now Balmoral Hotel)

                Scott Monument

RIGHT:     National Galleries of Scotland.

The small lettering on the extreme left of this card reads 'Valentines Series'.  This card has not been sent through the post, and it has no number.  This is unusual for a Valentine card, and makes the dating of the card more difficult.

However, the cable car and lack of other vehicles in the Princes Street suggests suggests that the photo would have been taken in the early 1900s.
