Princes Street

The View

This view looks to the west along Princes Street from one of the windows on the north side of the street.

The street is busy with a good mix of traffic - trams, cycle, lorries, cars and horse and cart.

The large building on the left is the Royal Scottish Academy at the foot of the Mound.  Edinburgh Castle is on Castle Hill, behind the gallery.  The long building in the distance (centre-right) is the Caledonian Hotel at Lothian Road, at the west end of Princes Street.

This is a postcard, published by Valentine & Sons.  The number on the card indicates that the photo was taken in 1931.
