The Royal Scots Greys statue is in West Princes Street Gardens, beside Princes Street at its junction with Frederick Street.  Here are more photos of the statue

This postcard has not been sent through the post, but the stamp box is marked:

 "INLAND POSTAGE 1/2D, FOREIGN POSTAGE 1D"

So the photograph must have been taken some time between 1906 (when the statue was erected) and 1918 (when the inland postage rate for postcards increased to a penny).
