Front of the Postcard

This postcard by Hartmann is one of many produced by Hartmann, Valentine and others using a photograph taken during the day to create a night-time moonlight effect.

In this view, looks to the south-east towards:

-  Holyrood Palace (foreground).

-  Arthur Seat - the hill 823 ft high in Holyrood Park (background).

Back of the Postcard

This card was posted from Glasgow to Barrhead in 1903, the the year after the British Post Office changed their rules and allowed a message to be written on the back of the card beside the address.

I wonder how many cards this sender sent.  Look at the message!

The Hartmann trade mark can be seen on this card.  It usually appeared in this position, in red, brown, green or black.  Occasionally it was placed in the top-left corner.
