The Photographer

It is interesting to see that J C H Balmain describes himself, on the back this photograph, as 'Late of the firm J G Tunny & Co.' 

J C H Balmain  gives two studio addresses for his own business:

-  15 Maitland Street  (This was a Balmain studio address,1897 to 1898.)

-  19 Salisbury Place (This was a Balmain studio address 1897 to 1838.)

So the photograph appears to have been taken around 1897-98. 

The Subject

This photo comes from the Wood family collection.  I have not yet discovered which member of the family it is likely to be.  Here are some other members of the Wood family.
